Welcome!
Northwest Health Connections (NWHC) is a Health Care Quality Unit equipped to provide training and assistance to families, individuals, and county staff. Through training, we are able to increase the capacity and competency of community physical and behavioral care providers. NWHC works to establish data sharing and analysis resources dedicated to improving the health care of individuals with mental retardation.
Northwest Health Connections serves nine counties in northwest Pennsylvania, including Cameron, Clearfield, Elk, Erie, Forest, Jefferson, McKean, Potter, and Warren. NWHC is dedicated to supporting and improving the physical and behavioral health care services provided to citizens with mental retardation. We do this by offering free training to providers who care for people with Mental Retardation, thereby increasing their service delivery capacity and quality.
The purpose of NWHC is to set the standards for excellence in assisting individuals and their families by helping them become more proactive in addressing medical needs and more involved in their treatment.
Mission Statement
Our Mission is to promote health, wellness, and full inclusion in community life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Vision Statement
We will provide leadership and coordination to enable county Mental Retardation programs, in collaboration with the Office of Developmental Programs (ODP), formerly the Office of Mental Retardation, to assure the highest achievable level of physical and behavioral health to individuals served.
